It’s been a long wait, but tomorrow your favorite friends are back. Friends: The Reunion will be the first time we see the six friends since the finale of the hit sitcom in 2004. And clearly, no time has past for the cast, as the trailer shows that the six friends can’t help but get into the same kinds of trouble they did when they all lived in New York.
Despite being the most popular sitcom of the ’90s, “Friends” has only had one big reunion. That was the series finale, which was set in the year 2015, so it’s been a long time since fans have seen the six main characters back together on screen. And while it’s been fun to see the cast in other projects, we’ve been looking forward to a reunion for years. One of the show’s writers, Scott Silveri, has finally heard our cries, and he’s responding with a Web series titled “Friends: The Reunion.”
Friends: The meeting car will be there for you
Clear the bank in Central Perk, as the reunion with friends begins again. After having to postpone the event for a year due to roadblocks and restrictions, HBO has released the trailer for Friends: The Reunion (not calling it The One with the Reunion is a missed opportunity). The release of the special coincided with the launch of HBO Max, which brought Friends back into the streaming world after Warner Bros. pulled the series from Netflix. The classic sitcom, which was the first show on NBC’s Must-See TV block on Thursday nights, was one of the biggest television hits of the 1990s. The six actors who played the titular sextet became household names and Jennifer Aniston became a superstar. Friends is still as popular today as it was when it aired, and is undoubtedly an important part of American pop culture, with several phrases from the show found in conversations and on t-shirts. The Friends special will take place on the 27th. May 2021, airing on HBO Max. Go visit your friends: The trailer for the film Reunion below: I’m all set. I may lose a few popularity points with people who say the only sitcoms they like are Seinfeld and Diminish Your Enthusiasm (although I can imagine them making themselves laugh watching the latter), but I love Friends. I watch it quite often and often have it on in the background while I do other things, laughing at the familiar dialogues while doing what I need to do. But part of me was not looking forward to this reunion, and not because the sight of the Central Perk gang makes me feel older than dirt. The year 2019 marked the 25th anniversary of Friends, and there were many articles about the show, but because we live in the age of Woke, each of them made sure to mention that the show was racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, fatphobic, monkeyphobic, and probably usophobic because of the episode where Tom Selleck bared his famous ornery face. Of course, there’s nothing like that, and while it’s very tempting to laugh at how today’s geeks are offended by something as innocuous as Friends (I love that show, but come on, it’s pretty innocuous), I was afraid the big reunion was going to be a two-hour apology from people who did nothing wrong. But friends: The reunion trailer – unlike Monica and her fancy dinnerware – is a lot of fun: Reading scripts, anecdotal questions (moderated by Ross with his embryo board, of course), memories of life together, special guests, etc. But what makes it even more special is one of my favorite things about the series: These six people are friends in real life, and it shows in the way they talk to each other. The threat of an alarm clock is constant these days, but this time I allow myself the excitement. What do you think of Friends: The trailer for the meeting? Are you a fan of the series? Now, rumors swirl that a full reunion is in the works. But before you get your hopes up, we’re here to provide a word of warning: When the show ended in 2004, you were in your 20s, and your body was in its prime. A decade later, you are in your 30s, and your body is no longer capable of carrying you through a marathon of drinking and dancing, or even a single trip to the bar. Friends has been off the air for over a decade now and the cast has gone on to other TV shows, movies and most importantly, their own lives. Since the show ended, there have been rumors that the cast has been talking about a reunion, but with 20 years having passed, that would be a lot of episodes to make, meaning that it would be one of the most expensive shows to ever produce. But with the cast still being in great demand, is there a way they can do a reunion in 2020 and make it worth their while?
